Bridging Learning and Opportunity in Southeast Asia. A profitable, pre-IPO edtech startup that sources global learning content for delivery to its primary market of Southeast Asia (SEA).
Higher education market in SEA was worth $45B in 2020, projected to grow to $54B by 2025. SEA is a dynamic and growing market with a large and young population, where re-skilling and upskilling of workers is a major need due to 1) job displacement by automation and 2) idleness.
There are 293M in the workforce; 35M FTEs (full time equivalent) displaced; and 15% have tertiary degrees. Pintaria links education and training to economic opportunity for SEA’s >450M learners. Pintaria’s product verticals have analogous business models that are already proven in mature markets. Pintaria aims to unify existing product verticals on a curated data-driven platform business model. Pintaria is expanding its partner ecosystem with a focus on onboarding large enterprises.
The government of Indonesia is actively encouraging graduates to be better work-prepared by providing grants and tax benefits workforce training programs, and corporate partners are incentivized to participate. Tess met Pintaria Founder and CEO Ray Pulungan while at Stanford GSB and have collaborated on a number of projects and investments in different industries and geographies. Ray has deep experience in finance and operations in SEA and is well-connected in various government departments. Ray has an MBA from Harvard, MPP from the Kennedy School and BA from Yale University.
